I went back today and was fortunate to find it safe and sound. It was completely covered with silt, but I saw it’s outline on the bottom after searching for about 10 minutes. I didn’t catch and Big Ones, just the run of the mill average Rainbows, but I count today as a BIG WIN !!!!

I didn’t go, but according to social media….
A picture of a 40lb King Salmon was submitted for the largest trout caught….
Several pictures of Redfish and Lionfish were taken by new anglers who swore they were caught in Barking Dog pool….
The largest Bass: a 1.8lb Guadalupe Bass won after a 13.4 lb specimen that was disquailified because of the background showing endless horizon of water and large stands of reeds….
The largest Perch turned out to be a 2lb Crappie….
It also won largest fish caught !Don’t you just love social media ?

In the future, when you have a problem like this contact Dan Cone directly, text or call. Mentioning it here on the forum does not mean he will be notified with expedience. I texted him about this problem and it should be looked at next time he is down there.

During the period of zero flows the river will drain from the dam downstream. I have seen this before, but never have they had so many consecutive days in a row working on the gates in the dam. I’ve seen several days in a row, but never 7-10 or more days in a row. I am told that even with the schedule of zero daily flows they will not necessarily use all those days. As the flows are shut down the impacts will be greatest in the river closest to the dam. Down at places like Rio the flows never really stop as all the water from upstream moves downstream, but you will notice a significant decrease in water speeds of course. In areas of riffles you will see the biggest impacts and much of the area will run dry. If you see stranded fish, use your net, and get them into the pools. The further downstream you go the less the impact of the daily zero flows. Places like the L&L Office, Devil’s playground, and below will see little impact except for the dropping water speeds. I might recommend fishing early in the morning and when the riffles start disappearing move downstream or fish the deeper pools. Of course, I really don’t know how this will impact the fishery this season and the holdover population into the next. I guess we will just have to wait and see. If the impacts turn out to be more severe than normal, you may want to consider just waiting till conditions return to normal. This is new territory for all of us.

Whatever variant I contracted, it’s an SOB. I haven’t ever been this sick, this long, in my life. I was asked to postpone my booster for 60 days as I entered another trial phase. It was apparently too long. So, everyone keep current with the latest boosters available so you don’t get this sick or worse. Best case scenario, I’m still about 2 weeks from testing negative. Ya’ll have fun out there, fight them fast and hard, keep’em wet, so they will live and thrill another angler another day. See you when I get there….

I told it’s going to be 2 weeks before I’m completely free of the virus. 5 days on Paxlovid, then three days later a rebound of symptoms which last a few more days and then you’ll finally test negative 12-14 days…. Right now my lungs are pushing out phlgem so fast I have to walk with a coffee cup to spit in….

That was a good summer no matter how many you caught and where. That last pic on the Guad is a true pig !!! I talked to Chris today and he said they saw easily over 100 Rainbows floating from Maricopa to Lazy L&L. I think with these larger fish holding over again through the summer, we might even see some record sized fish this coming year caught and released. I certainly expect to see a few giants in my net.
