Yeap, you need to get to the TU national site to renew your membership with them. It was in the last e-mail from Dustin right before the last sign-up.

Well the enrollment date being pushed back is going to make everything hard to get the LAP packets out to everyone by Nov 1. Especially with them having to check TU national membership instead of having it part of the usual enrollment. I e-mailed Dustin and I am waiting for a response.

Can you believe it? Canyon Lake stands at 908.94’msl, that’s less than 1″ from pool. And another pacific hurricane is forecast to push mositure across the mountains of Mexico into Central Texas Tuesday and Wednesday. This one is not expected to be as intense as the last one, but if rains fall over the upper basin, it sure won’t take much to get the lake to pool (909’msl).

When I signed up Sunday, they didn’t ask for my TU membership number, just my mailing address? They also said they would send an email confirmation which I still have not received. Is this how the senior sign-up went for you?

Just google: Renew Trout Unlimited Senior Membership and the link will come up to take you to the TU website and the senior discount.

(I tried to copy and paste the real link but for some reason it doesn’t bring up the real link)

Alex, we are going to have to go through the TU national site this season. Next year maybe we will get back to have everything done during the LAP sign-up.

Here’s the link to the Senior discount for TU: Renew Your Senior Membership | Trout Unlimited Donation Site

Well the copy and paste doesn’t seem to be working. I googled renew Trout Unlimited Senior Discount and it came up.

First GRTU General Meeting this year will be Nov 13th at Lazy L&L. I’ll be in California at the time, so raise the questions you want the Board to hear during the meeting. I also hear Dustin is working on a TU/GRTU membership sign-up solution on our website. It’s is important to sign up for these memberships on our site as TU national funnels more money back to GRTU when we initiate those membership renewals. So wait for an E-Mail blast from Dustin with the details.

Kerrville did not nearly get the rain that fell from Comfort downstream. The flows in the upper river are already dropping to just over 100cfs. The flows you see over 90cfs at Sattler is really just runoff (they were well over 1000cfs last night). Still getting the lake to come up so dramatically is fabulous !!! And I suspect with the inflows dropping as fast as they are the lake might not make it to 909’msl. Of course all the creeks that feed the lake in addition to the Guadalupe are helping as the biggest rains fell from Spring Branch and right around Canyon Lake. Soon I will see the weather at noon and I expect the rain fall will be a major topic. The Blanco also saw a wall of water coming down, I wonder if it impacted the local communities again?

Good Rains are falling over the upper basin. By morning we should know just how much is headed into the lake. It will make a difference for a while at the very least.

Actually we will see an additional 2000lbs of Trout this year. Last year we had 3 truck loads of Rainbows (4000lbs/truck) and 1 truck of Browns (2000lbs) for a total of 14,000lbs. This year we will stock at least 4 truck loads of Rainbows for a total of 16,000lbs. So yes we will have even more Trout to catch. And if you catch a Brown this year please contact Dan Cone or myself and post that information on the forum. It would be nice to know the Browns are surviving through multiple years/summers in the river.

And there was an omission of the option to renew your TU/GRTU membership which is a requirement for LAP membership. Wait for instructions about renewing the TU/GRTU membership because when you do it through our website it increases the amount the TU returns to GRTU. So stay tuned….

Normally they are held the Fourth Saturday in October. Then again with COVID we may still be not holding in person meetings yet. I’ll ask the Board and get back to you. The Board will meet again soon anyway, even if it’s virtual, I will hear something and pass it on….

There will be a list that comes with the mailed LAP membership. Dan Cone is working on this and we should know where we stand at the first general meeting.
