I measured 63 degrees last Saturday at Potts at noon. The trout were very excited about it as well ?.

ESNs are out of stock so I need to wait till they have inventory (a friend is buying directly from Sage). Apparently there has been a winter run on the latest crop of Euro Nymph Rods as just out of curiosity I checked another manufacturer and they were out of stock as well. I shall make due with my Watergate Era Powell till then. I’m hoping it will make me appreciate it more!

I had a good weekend as well. Hooked a couple of 24.5” tubes but got neither to the net. I did land some pretty bows. Standard Tungsten 18 Prince and Pheasant Tails for me. See you out there.

Alex, thanks for all your info on here and at the river. I made my first Euro outing yesterday with a rig I cobbled together with an old Powell 3 weight. I had 6 / 7 hookups    netting a few including a really nice big bow. I was using lighter tippet and broke several off. It’s nice to feel like you don’t know if your missing all your strikes or not! Ordering a real rod shortly. I appreciate you sharing all your knowledge.

Karma my man! Gift a fly on Sunday and land a hog on Monday.

Alex, thanks for the fly and nice chatting with you again. Watching your performance yesterday cemented my viewpoint that Euronymphing has huge advantages if done properly, especially when conditions are tough. Damn, I’m going to have to buy more gear!

    Ok Ron,

I picked up this nice brown Saturday morning at River Bluff. This guy must have traveled quite a way down the river from his stocking site. I picked up 10 fish with streamers / hackles. Mayfly spinners were rolling down the river and the trout were crushing them but I gave up trying to catch trout on dries in the Guadalupe after many years of failure. All in all a wonderful day!

Jimbo, do you know how long it takes for a release change to get to, let’s say, #5? I was checking hourly this morning so I wouldn’t get stuck but if I need 30 minute intervals that would be good to know.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I just got off the river and it’s muddy and tough fishing. That said I’ll be back tomorrow ??
