    I have started letting my 4 year old pick my flies lately and I see more and more purple making its way into my box.

    What’s your guess on shipping?

    So, this is a bit late, but have you checked out the Diablo amigos?

    To the OP and anyone else that cares;

    I have been using a syndicate Pipeline pro…3… I think. 2wt Czech rod, Lamson liquid reel with straight mono nymphing line from Cortland. For the leader I have something along the lines of 15′ of heavy mono, 3′ of sighter, to a tippet ring then my tippet after that. It’s fun to experiment with one fly, or two of varying sizes and weights… a single squirmy once you’re frustrated and about to give up… a mop.. the sky’s the limit. You can short drift/chunk mini streamers and bigger wet flies too with the same setup. It’s not conducive to dries but you can do a hopper dropper no problem.

    Thanks y’all. We’re just getting started, but if she’s anything like her dad, she’ll be useless without being in or near the water most of the time.

    I would to get her involved with Texas Women Fly Fishers.

    Saw a few with chunks out of their tails the past couple of days.

    <p style=”text-align: left;”>Looking at the injury to the tail, my guess is something systemic from an infection, or possibly even sepsis. Looks like the birds are doing a number on them this year.</p>
    I noticed ALL the fish at the beach disappeared except one lone female thay refuses to eat. Like someone went in and just removed them all last week. It went from 50 fish under the trees to one over night.

    Our water is so warm, they think its spring and get busy doing their thing.

    Once you’re down there, Little Ponderosa is pretty good. My 3 year old did ok walking around there. Just walk down the drive and not the steep bank. Also, if you’re there for sunset you get to watch the bats.

    Kanz gets stacked thick, the fish do well there and if you do it just right, will eat a bug off your pants or bite your shoestring, whatever it was doing it was hilarious. I’ve caught them there between people that had no boundaries, so its not that they won’t eat. Its all about presentation.

    With that being said, I challenge everyone to explore the water, where allowed by law, of course. Find those hidden gems up and down the river. There are large amount of fish in areas NO ONE fishes. While these places are off the beaten path, the reward is worth the effort.

    Happy fishing and tight lines y’all!

    Had a great time and my kid really enjoyed it. She was asking to go put fish in the river again this morning.

    Be there with the kid. She’s been excited about it since last year.
