Bill thanks for the response. Interesting that Chris no longer follows the forum. I guess he is busy with shop and all the stuff you have him doing, but would have thought that we would see some posts under the conservation forum banner based on all the projects going on. Apparently, the bit in the newsletter serves the same purpose, so thanks again. I look forward to the updates concerning GRTU participation in this network in the future.

    Tight lines,

    Bill,

Yes, I know that the board requests that these issues be directed to the board, but this item also needed to be shared with the membership since it relates to what is happening to our river – all the new subdivisions et al. I agree that should have sent to Chris too, but I know he follows the forum so thought could kill 2 birds with one stone. I originally was going to post under the conservation banner, but am not sure that many members look there so put it in lease forum where it could be reviewed by a larger number of active members.

If GRTU needs any help with support for this initiative let me know, I would be happy to help.

I assuming that this is an April Fools post by the wiley angler Alex. Good one, had me for a couple minutes until remembered what days it was.

As I recall, Chris at Action Angler guides in Colorado on the Gunnison during the summer season. You may want to contact him, https://www.actionangler.net/ , to confirm.

So I take it that you are finding that the fishing has gotten tougher than those early days with multiple stocking. This is in fact true as fish have been very well schooled (pun intended) during this time period. February usually starts the real season when trout are wary, the bugs are smaller and your angling skills are tested. I personally enjoy these days and many times just catch a few, but usually have fun anyway. As Alex said, just get out there and give it a try since fishing tougher conditions will improve your skills and give you a better appreciation for our fishery.

    Bill,

Thanks, just what I was looking for.

The chains at that site have multiple locks and like Alex said, if the one you tried already had code on it, then try the other. Believe me have had same problem a few times until figured out which lock actually was the right one.

Went out for the first time yesterday and did well. Now I have to agree with JC that these fish are brutes and wore me out after just a few hours. Looks like I am going to have to start lifting weights – who knew that trout fishing on the Guad is now requiring me to become a highly trained athlete 🙂

Alex – as I understand it, they have received the new monitors, but the equipment in the river is not working and will need to get fixed before the system will be up and running again.

Any new information on when temperature monitors will be back up?
