Jimbo,
What you suggest is a Que system, which is what Ticketmaster and the rest us for selling tickets online. I agreed with you that this would stop the server from crashing and would create a virtual line for signup – see my post from a couple days ago where I proposed the same thing. Great minds think alike 🙂

OK, so let’s throw some dirt on this horse. Why not create a lap sign up post on the lease members site with the link for the program sign up for say 8 hours. After the 8 hours has expired, get a count and offer the remaining passes on the GRTU site to the public. Simple and clean.

Barry, well said ? and agree completely.
Besides your symphony tickets, season tickets for football, baseball etc are all done the same way and no one claims that the method is not fair. So can’t figure out how treating long time lease members the same way is not right.

OK, so ur saying no to in person, I can live with that , but what we have now is not working so we need a change. I mentioned in earlier post that the website use the a que system to limit the number of people that can access site at one time. This would stop over loading the server and create a virtual line like they use when buying concert tickets. That way once you are in, you just need to wait your turn.

All,
Maybe as the trout fishing slowly dies on the Guad we should consider stocking different species such as helping TPWD with Guadalupe bass restoration? or move onto small month bass – these guys are called bronze back trout in many parts of the country. Smallies get up to 5# range and wouldn’t that be a blast on the Guad with a fly rod. Just looking for some options for the future of our fishery. I look forward to the feedback.

Jimbo,
Since you are a bit unsure of a commitment to Czech nymphing, I suggest you consider this rod from Cabelas (I have owned one for last couple seasons and performs well) https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabelas-czn-fly-rod?searchTerm=czn%20rods. They are reasonably priced and the 4wt 11 footer I have is nice rod.
I also have a question concerning why everyone is talking about 3wt and 2wt rods here, I thought that we were suppose to be able to land these trout quickly to limit any excessive stress. Unless something has changed considerably over the last 10 years not sure that a 2wt fits that bill and even have to question a 3wt. Please fill me in on whatever am missing.

First, for this project the horse is outta the barn and agree with Martin that the riverside lots with a home will probably be around $1 million. So started to ask myself what we as TU might be able to do to stop this attack on our river by developers. Unfortunately, the only thing I could think of was to pursue conservation easements with the current property owners along both sides of the river for the 10 mile stretch of the properties in the LAP. Not sure of the how, what and if even possible, but thought that maybe someone out there could chime in on whether we as GRTU should pursue with TPWD as a way to contribute to the community.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Second, after this year we should stock Maricopa, but stop stocking at 306 bridge and down at Kanz and anywhere else down river until we get to Rio. Reason being that the property along the river at the new developments is surely going to be posted and any fish we put in the river will be pretty much unreachable unless walk up from Rio. I don’t know about you but I am not in favor of stocking waters for the affluent to have the only access and by stopping this stocking maybe they will stock it themselves 🙂

Unfortunate that these areas have some of the coldest waters. I agree these are going to be the good old days. Most disappointing part of the article is that are advertising access to 20,000 trout. Starting to look like we may have to abandon stocking everything up stream of Rio, too bad since there is some excellent water up there but I guess all good things come to end. May have to look at moving somewhere else since it appears that development may kill our fishery.
Tight lines,
Ron
Doug,
I don’t want to argue with you, but just because you do not know of any does not mean that there are not other organizations with similar programs. Just checked Texas Hill Country FF, they are 501(c)(3) organization, site lease program and they offer renewals to previous members BEFORE going to the rest of their members – https://thcff.org/trout-lease
“Fishing lease slots, are available (with paid fee) only to members of Texas Hill Country Fly Fishers Club. In November email notifications are sent out to the previous year’s lease-holders with remaining slots offered to all remaining club members on a first come first serve basis.”
Again, we are not asking for special treatment, just the same opportunities offered by other organizations.
