Lastly, issuing more passes won’t necessarily increase numbers on the water. Those that really wanna fish and are serious about it will fish. Whether lap pass holder or not. Most lease sites can be accessed thru public entry points, especially the upper river. Last year I fished a spot where I saw 20-30 other fly fishers wade by. I was the only lap member. Several require $10 fee and you can walk to the river right next to a pass holder. If we sell 800 passes and I miss out by being 801 I’m still gonna fish and I’m gonna hit up some of my favorite spots by paying the daily fees. Might as well have given out 801 passes and make more money for fish.
October 1, 2021 at 8:24 pm #12928For the lottery system , the name that gets drawn is the only name that can register. Absolutely no different than what we do now. If drawn, grtu issues the winner login info. They login, register, pay, go fish! No greater chance of selling a lap pass than the way we do it now. Also like it was said earlier. Charge a small fee to enter lottery. If drawn , pay the difference for full lap access. If not, you lose your entry fee. I’d gladly donate $20 at a chance. This way more money can be raised to buy fish.
SteveOctober 1, 2021 at 8:15 pm #12927It’s simple….. lottery. Don’t see how it would lead to black market sales. If your name gets drawn you register just like we do every year. In New Mexico when you draw an elk tag you can’t sell it on the black market. This would be no different and it’s really the only fair way to do it. Even if a winning lottery ticket gets resold who cares. Whoever holds the golden ticket registers with their name, vehicle, TU membership, etc. how is this a problem???
November 24, 2020 at 7:42 pm #11802We used to have a lease there several years ago. As in 15 years ago. It was a great spot!
November 24, 2020 at 9:03 am #11792If you start at River rose and walk down stream it’s a 10-15 min walk. You will pass a wedding venue and shortly past that is a weir that is broken out in the middle. Just below that is basically where Kanz is. Pretty spot with a couple good runs.
November 24, 2020 at 8:05 am #11790Yesterday there was a small mayfly hatch. Very light cream color and 18-20 in size. Very curious as to what they were.
November 23, 2020 at 9:38 pm #11785I did see several pairs of bows that were acting as if they were spawning? Possible?
November 23, 2020 at 9:36 pm #11784All makes sense. Just wish a lot of anglers had better etiquette. Not talking about the guides as they are generally pretty respectful. Was curious as to why We would buy fish that are gonna get hit pretty hard by joe public. I totally understand the colder water and holdover aspect of it. What got me was the army of fly fishers that showed up there today stomping and splashing thru the water and acting like complete idiots. Sorry for the rant.
November 23, 2020 at 7:23 pm #11775It’s between river rose and rio raft. Used to be a lease years ago. We stocked it but you have to access it from the sites above and below. Don’t think we should stock it again imo. Too many non lap members know about it and they can easily access it.
