Bob,
There may be holdovers anywhere in the river, especially in deep pools or by springs. But the only place I’ve found them consistently is in the upper river (say from #5 upstream).

November 5, 2024 at 9:26 am #16826I didn’t participate in the tournament, but I heard that that the winner of the Holdover Tournament didn’t catch a single holdover. I realize that this is supposed to be a fun event, and primarily a fundraiser, but perhaps its name should be adjusted slightly.

November 2, 2024 at 9:13 am #16800If you need help locating the Summit, just go to Google Maps and look it up. But it’s really quite easy to find. If you drive down River Road from Sattler, it will be on your right before you get to the Ponderosa bridge. There’s a big sign that’s hard to miss.

November 2, 2024 at 9:11 am #16799There are usually three stockings per season. If I remember correctly, the announcement is usually a week or so before the event. The last couple of years, the first stocking has been a double load of fish, so it lasts longer. But, you don’t have to stay for the entire stocking and, if you do, you’ll be done by 1:00 pm or so. You’ll learn tons about the river, its fish, and angling techniques at a stocking, and it’s a lot of fun.

November 2, 2024 at 8:20 am #16793By far the best scouting trip would be to attend the first stocking. By doing so, you’ll help the river and the organization, learn where all the leases are, and get the chance to talk to a bunch of fine anglers.
October 30, 2024 at 3:04 pm #16780I’m not sure if this is what you’re asking, but you can just copy it and paste it anywhere.

October 27, 2024 at 10:53 pm #16777If you’re learning to Euro nymph, I wouldn’t worry about the fly. Use a size 16 natural color Walt’s, on a jig hook or not (it doesn’t matter), with 3.5, 3, 2.5, and 2mm beads, and then worry about what really is important: perfecting your drift.

October 27, 2024 at 12:51 pm #16776I had the same problem with an earlier version of Korkers with BOA. The ones that I bought last year open very wide; wider, in fact, than my Simms boots.
