The river is very low, but I was out today and the temperatures were fine.

Flows are down to 69 cfs.

You can see the flows here: https://www.gbra.org

The only problem with y0ur proposed wade is stamina.  At these flows, wading to Ponderosa and back to #5 is easy.  Just make sure that you’re in good shape and that you allot enough time to fish along the way.

Of course, you could just wait ten days and then you could park at Potts or Ponderosa.

Or does it mean that our parking tag is our permit.

Some clarification would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the link, John.  And, in fact, the river seemed to be lower than 153 to me the last couple of times I’ve been out.  It’s good to have a reliable source for the actual flows.

And, like you, I hope that by Oct. 21 the temperatures will have mitigated to the point that most of our trout survive.  I especially want to see our wild fish make it through this winter.  This seems likely, since most of the natural reproduction appears to have occurred in the upper river.  A few nights in the 40s will really help, as will some brooding, cloudy days.

Funny about the flow, since the website lists it at 153, where it’s been for a while.

I was on #5 on Sunday.  When I left at around 2:00 pm, the water temperature was still around 68.

I only met Doc once, while we were stocking some years ago.  He was a kind, affable, and generous man.  I always think about our time together on the stocking bus when I unlock the gate to River Bluff.  That gate is an entrance to something very dear to Doc.  I will not forget that whenever I fish River Bluff.

No problem, Ed.  Anything happening at Maricopa (I haven’t fished there in a while)?

Just to make sure that people know what you’re talking about, the site is called “Maricopa.”

That’s not what I said.  I said that even during the warmer months, fishing for trout is okay as long as the water temperatures are cool enough.  Bring a thermometer and an open mind to the river.

Not exactly “no trout.”  When the temperatures are safe for trout fishing (under 70 or so), you can fish for trout.  A lot depends on flows during a given summer, time of day, and where in the river you are.

Assuming that you were a LAP member last year and you are a member for 2019/20, then the annual sites are, indeed, annual.

That would be some wade, right?  I meant, “River Bluff.”

Thanks, Jimbo.  I know that stretch (I usually wade to it from Rio).  It is, indeed, good water.  Thanks for acquiring a lease there.

Is the parking/access obvious?  If no, would it be possible to supply a photo?
