San Antonio shore fishing spots with kids

I am watching a friend’s two kids, age 8 and 13, this weekend in the San Antonio area and I thought I would take them fishing. I have only fished the Guad so I am looking for a small lake or pond to take them to where we could fish from the shore. Does anybody have any suggestions for an easy spot to take them? Trying to stay within an hour or so of the city.
They are interested in fishing but haven’t done much of it yet as their father passed away a few years ago and mom isn’t much for fishing :). Any suggestions would be welcome! thanks!
