Well I cant post the link for some reason… Search “profile” on the main forum page before you enter the Lease forum and the 2nd post from last year has instructions kind of. Involves making a wordpress account.
I will see if I can find an old post about it, this came up last year but I cant remember the process. It was a little weird is all I remember.
@danawilliams Awesome, i have never had much luck at Devil’s Playground for whatever reason. They are there for sure so maybe i will use your posts to get motivated to try the area again.
Good point from @john.p.friesen , it would really be phenomenal to have a few miles of catch and release only to help sustain the trout population through the tough months.

Thanks Barry, I’m going to fish the animas today for the hell of it, then the San Juan the rest of the week I suppose. Any specific flies you’d recommend?
Oh going to book it with Duranglers probably unless anyone has a preference. I’m open to whatever.
I searched around last year to no avail, but might be worth it to call the local fly shops and see if anyone has mentioned top them they are doing shuttles.
Congrats on the retirement. What are you guys showing the water temps to be? I have to be in town next week, but the air temps are so hot I didnt even think about heading down to the river.
I was pleasantly surprised over Easter weekend as well, fished a new section of the river further down, Rocky Beach and above Action Anglers quite a ways, to avoid tubers and had a great time and caught more fish than on any other trip this season. Long story short fishing is still good it seems.

For anyone wondering you can make it upstream past Camp Whitewater the easiest on the side opposite of camp whitewater if you stay close to the bank.

I swapped from studs to felt, i seem to have better luck with felt on the guad vs everywhere else i use studs.
I’ve had pretty good luck using a sink tip, I basically try to get a drag free presentation a bit upstream-a bit down stream of where I am standing, then swing my rig through the current downstream. I have caught them on the drift and the swing (more than I thought I would). I feel even with this method I am not getting deep enough in certain scenarios.
And good flows are 2-300, other ppl may have other opinions but u can wade easy enough at those flows. I was wading at 8-900 cfs last week and it was sketchy and u couldn’t get where u wanted even if you tried very hard. Around 300 you can get around a bit easier. Last year was around 150 all season and it was pretty good for fishing but it kind of concentrates all the fish so I’d imagine it’s a bit tougher on them.
