Well, lets chat about streamers/nymph. Nymphing will produce more fish hands down, and you’ll still get that slab of a trout now and again. But for me its boring, probably because I cant sit still and lack patience to a degree, which is funny because you have to be patient in the streamer game when it comes to catching that fish, but anyhow. For me streamer fishing is far more exciting and there is soooooooo much more you can do w a streamer on the guad than any other style w a fly rod. I will fish a long run, a short riffle or a 50 yard stretch  of flowing water that is anywhere from 6in (sometimes shallower) to 3ft deep  (which is the majority of the water on the guad)  and absolutely crush it. I can swing it,  dead drift it, jerk strip, mend upstream then  downstream then upstream then downstream  like a mad man ( I have been laughed at on the river for doing this ) in order to get the head of my fly constantly moving different directions, drift strip drift strip, I have many techniques so I will spare yall and stop here. 80% of my streamer fishing is on a  floating line which makes it very versatile, I dont get hung up much and if I do its super rare I snap of my fly and have to re rig. Your  covering more water which means your finding new water. Ok , and now THE EAT !!!!!!! Which is basically the cherry on top, watching your fly suddenly disappear is awesome. Thinking you stripped yourself into a rock and your like “wtf” then you just see your line running the opposite direction is always sweet. Anyhow thats just a little of how I think about streamer fishing. If anyone ever wants to throw some meat w me or has any questions about it let me know. Im on youtube/ insta @theelementalfly.  See yall out there

You make a great point, there’s a really good  book called the subtle art of not giving a fuck. It basically taught me to slow down and relax, take a less is more approach. So I decided to apply that to my fishing. I  started to worry less and less about catching fish and focused my energy on just being on the water and appreciating it. Then I started to look at the river in a different way, I started to view it as a huge buffet for trout and started to care less about the specific fly pattern or matching the  hatch or only fishing in the most fishy looking spots.Close your eyes and pick a fly, do it.  I came to terms w going out on the water for 4 hours and not catching anything. Now a few years later I fancy myself a decent trout angler w a helluva lot more to learn. Its rare I have a day  on the water and get skunked, but it does happen and im cool w it.  Relax, dont overthink, have fun and the results will come.

That’s awesome, I’m a big fan of the mini dungeon. It does good everywhere especially on our water. The streamer bite has been great lately. 2-3in baitfish patterns w some lead eyes on wf floating line w a 8ft 2x leader. Ankle to knee deep riffles are great for swinging. I have some videos on my Instagram. @theelementalfly. Check it out

A lot of guides fish a 3 fly wet rig, don’t see why 3 dries wouldn’t work. I’d go Chubby / royal wolf, down to a bwo then an emerger in the film. You would need a long leader, I’ve been considering trying out a mono rig for dries, I’ll let y’all know how it goes

I also have a pair of dryft waders, only ones I could find that didn’t have to be custom made. I’m 7’00” and wear a size 16, the waders are good stuff. Im going to try your tip on finding a small leak in my bootie I can’t find

those are some good lookin flies, perds will bag some nice ones. As far as the butt section it’s either 20 or 15, you can do a little more w a thicker butt like a 3 fly rig. If I’m going small I run 15lb. Thanks for the follow. How are you liking your moonshine ?

What’s up y’all. Here’s my tight line setup.

    Moonshine Epiphany 10’ 3wt

I run a mono rig my fly line doesn’t go through a single guide.  30’ butt of maxim chamelon transition down to a sighter attached to a tippet ring. From the ring I run about 8’ of 5x.  I tie on a perdigon and a midge. I do pretty well with it, landed a nice holdover last week. Check out my Instagram @theelementalfly. If anyone wants to fish and trade some info let me know !

The river is good to go, try to stay closer to the dam. I would recommend up river from rio. I caught a nice holdover yesterday around whitewater.
