    Nope. Not in my opinion.

Maybe #5 or Pay at WW and hit the loop.

There’s also sometimes fish in the lower areas, if you can get to them

    How much does Whitewater charge?

Next year we may want to re-think stocking there.

It would give Maricopa a break and besides, John said he didn’t want people up there disturbing his wildlife.

The average member can’t access those fish.

    Wait.

This sounds like a story Jimbo told years back. I think his ended lost forever.  ;(

    What Jimbo says.

    Spinning tackle tips.

Light system with good drag. 10 lb. Braid line with ball bearing swivel. Braid is key.

Lures: Fast water.  spinners , Roostertail,  I like mepps. #2 in gold and silver  no dressing.

Slower, deeper water.   its been a gold spoon bite lately. Some on red/white .I fish mainly daredevils brand myself.

Cut, modify all trebles, of course.

Techniques will have to be learned. Slower retrieve best..

    I agree.

#5 is not the easy wade.  Crossing the river is the easy part. Slogging down next  to the the bank the next 150 yards can be tricky with loose rocks and current.

Then you have to walk the ledge or bust through brush &  trees.

But, its been fishing well in the early morning. I caught 14 there the last time out.

CVC (Gordo’s) & Maricopa are good choices.

Ponderosa also has some easy wades. Both above and below the bridge.

    Fished #5 from 7:30 – 12:00.

    I caught 13.

It was a morning bite (again) as I had 9 by the time I made it to the big S-turn pool.

Both the Big Bow and Brown came un-buttoned today.

“DI” is the TU National “Diversity Initiation” program to include more female trout fisherman.  At all levels of the origination.

And yes, the GRTU may be the worst at it.

    Sorry, that how its been.

    Great write up !

I also met Karen a year or two ago at JDL. She if very nice and quite the fisher girl.

I also have met Dana, who is becoming a known figure in the GRTU. And yes, she is a tall strong wader.

Keep at it and exploring. Every season is different but knowledge gained helps each trip.

You girls need to ramp up the GRTU DI.  My wife may like to join.

    Best of luck!

In the past, we have NO say in the flow, unless it’s a kid related event.

    Full details someone may add.

    680 is fishable in areas.

Once you have the basic apply reading water and thinking like a fish

Seams, tailouts,  bulges, pools and fast water.  Each requires a different approach.

Rainbows hate/love red, love fast water, can be teased like a cat , like little bugs.

Browns want a meal, like pools, don’t like eggs or tiny bugs, alive things like legs and squirmy, feed early/late .

    Hope we help.

I saw Jimbo the other day and he already had 9 Browns. And was just warning up at spot #2.

    Hey Adam.

I doubt anyone’s pattern will be revealed or even helpful to much.

I struggle to get a bite in these high flows with my bug rod. Many others also find it ……challenging.

But advise from a bad fly fisherman.

One guy may catch fish on a girdle bug and midge, another one swears by Hairear, Streamers, egg, worm.

Most will fish an attractor with a small dropper.

Ya, I know. It’s hard and slow sometimes.

Try a new area, add shot, try different technic.
