My producers depend on the style but for nymphing I have a couple.of boxes. Mostly Czech but will mix it up some.

A lot will depend then on what kayak, also. My amigo, nosed into the current, outside of the rough stuff is a pretty nice platform to fish from.

Anything more narrow than that and I would just use it to shuttle to wadeable spots or get to a large boulder that is right below a certain spot that tends to have 20 anglers at a time fishing it…..

Whatever you do, dont overestimate your abilities or underestimate the river’s. If it’s not something you care wade easy enough to get through without having laser focus on the water, don’t try to fish in it.

Some people have braved the high flows and waded. Ironically, they were rewarded with a stick of butter outsizing the bows they pulled.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear no floaters. That’s great news.

I wonder how S turn looks right now.

Trying g to figure out how to paddle down Monday if I can figure out someone to watch the kid.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>How did it go today? What spots did y’all get to? I ended up on a.call well past shift so I wouldn’t have made it either way. Hope a bunch of happy fish got wet and everyone had fun.</p>

    Edit:

I think the marathon combined with the number of others going has convinced me that rushing home, changing out of work clothes and getting gear loaded up isn’t going to be beneficial to helping or having a good time so I think I’m out. Hopefully someone gets good pics and everyone has a fun safe time.

I didn’t scroll up yet, but everyone should probably be aware that there is a marathon on River Road tomorrow starting at 0730. Traffic is going to be gridlock for anyone trying to get down river road.

I think the browns that do holdover, as well as a good number of rainbows are up further. There is a higher number of big predatory fish up that way too though. I think they thwart the spawning and reproductive process pretty harshly.

I would like to see good numbers of Texas spawned trout in my lifetime.

What would be the chances of swapping the rainbows for browns to something like a 50:50 ratio?
Are browns less resilient to warmer temperatures?
Would  any other species work like rio grande cutties. etc?
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. Taking a break from writing reports.

    Lunch or brunch, either

A big smallie or guad on a 5wt is something else!

I excluded suckers because I have them dialed in and almost expect one to suck up my weighted nymph if I get even close to them. Throw a green Eagans Headatand at a red horse and watch the magic. Something about green they love.

I was thinking they would be something you could purchase as needed on here.
I have a few friends that want to try it out and some that usually paddle and want to wade with me to the spots striper frequently hunt trout.

    Heck yeah!
I’m ready to paddle and fish in 800!
Maybe not trying to sink any nymphs, but I’m for sure putting a smack down on the trout eaters this year!
Sorry, I still release those too.
Anyone ever hear of white running up the guad when the flows are up like this? I know a whiper was pulled out of the SMR this last year where they “can’t be”

    October 29, 2018 at 10:39 pm #1465

3k-ish for a little bit now and for little longer too.
I bet this is a killer year on the guad!
As for deeper water and streamers, sink tip or full sinking line is gonna be the ticket I bet. FLouro tippets!
I noticed last year, as fo streamers, a browish crackley cone-headed bugger did the trick consistently, even when “nymphed” over a school of suckers, I stil got some pigs to shoot up over them to give a hardy take.
