Hard to beat Boulder Creek, which is about a 40 min drive depending what side of Denver you’re on. Clear Creek and Bear Creek are even closer but can be hit or miss and there are others but the next time I’m in Denver the Blue River around Silverthorne is on my list.

As Jimbo mentioned though RMNP is worth your time, certainly no lack of options. Best of luck!

If it were me, I’d wanna another go at the Kern River (north of Lake Isabella) right in the heart of the Sequoia National Forest. I only spent one day on this river (and with only modest luck) but I left promising myself I’d get back there for a longer run. It is just an absolutely beautiful area of the Southern Sierras and the Kern while challenging is a blast to fish. Lots of campgrounds and pull-offs along the road that hugs the river for fairly easy access. Added bonus, the further up you get to the headwaters there are native golden trout to be had but access to the water often requires a bit more effort.

Was just checking into the forum and saw your post so thought I’d chime in. Best of luck and success wherever you end up, there’s just so much great water to explore in the Sierras—wish I could get out there more.
