Should not be an issue. Most are unmanned anyway. A couple are RV parks that will be opened because they have customers camped there.
November 3, 2020 at 4:30 pm #11614Trey – sorry you had a bad experience at L&L. I’ve never had a noise issue, but I have gone only from November through March and most of the time I can stay far from other campers, which I make a point to do. Plus, I only go during the week since I’m retired (except when I help with a stocking). My wife and I are lifelong campers and generally go for state parks, national parks, or U.S. Forest Service campgrounds. Never a private RV park. Because its not crowded in the winter, L&L has worked out for me.
November 2, 2020 at 8:50 am #11604I have a 4.5-hour drive to get there and have always camped at Lazy L&L, first with a tent and the last few years with our teardrop trailer. There are two lease access sites there, so that is a plus (Devil’s Playground and behind the store). It’s also roughly in the middle of the leases. Mostly long term snowbirds there in the winter and you have lots of sites to choose from.
October 14, 2020 at 8:05 pm #11492Got mine Tuesday in the frozen north of Plano. Complete, including the badge!
Thanks for your efforts!
October 9, 2020 at 11:50 am #11477Ditto on the donation. I’m in. Also, there is a huge excess of labor for the first stocking. Some of it could be diverted to the signs.
October 1, 2020 at 12:09 pm #11150Signed in and completed the process about noon without a hitch, so apparently the problems are solved. I wish we were in the middle of the season!
September 12, 2020 at 10:07 pm #10329Don’t know the precise date, but last year I signed up on 10/4 and I was lease holder #687. I think last year was the quickest to sell out. I would expect the email late September or first of October.
July 24, 2020 at 8:12 pm #10272While on the subject of chapter business, the last entry on the Chapter Business forum was nine months ago. I’m wondering why chapter business isn’t reported in the Chapter Business forum?
June 25, 2020 at 9:36 pm #10252Were you in the “quality waters” area.? Looks like you were on a boat.
I was there briefly nearly two years ago and it was sort of an accident. We were on an extended camping trip that included a week backpacking with family in the Wind River Range in Wyoming. We also camped in Colorado, Flaming Gorge, and the Moab, Utah, area. On the way home, my wife booked a couple of camp sights in NM. One happened to be Navajo Dam. I wasn’t paying much attention and she asked me, “on the river or on the lake (for the camp site)” I always prefer river.
We got there and I perused the campground map, discovering that the river was the San Juan. Made a beeline to the camp host who told me about Abe’s, which was my next stop. On their advice, showed up at the Pump House early the next morning and landed about 15 rainbows in an hour, losing probably five more.
Can’t wait to go back.
March 4, 2020 at 7:48 pm #9998I definitely fit into the seniors category, and possibly cantankerous.?
March 4, 2020 at 9:16 am #9992I love fishing there and have to access it by wading up from River Rose, so I earn every fish I hook there. I was really sorry to learn that we can’t stock there any longer. It seems like every time I’m on the river (regardless of which LAP site) and the subject of JDL comes up, someone will chime in and say, “John lets me park at his place.” I swear I’ve heard that from at least 10 people and I’m not on the river that much (I’m a five-hour drive away). Clearly, he likes anglers or he wouldn’t volunteer access. On the other hand, there must be some behavior that makes him mad. Here’s hoping GTRU can kiss and make up somehow, because that’s a great fishing spot. Even when they’re not biting, the ducks provide some entertainment. One note: I’ve never seen him when I’ve fished there.
January 24, 2020 at 8:56 pm #9040It’s my understanding (hopefully someone with authority will chime in) that the browns at the hatchery have some sort of virus. Instead of the usual 2,000 pounds of browns, we will get a full truck (4,000 pounds) of rainbows sometime in the next few weeks. I assume LAP members will get the usual email asking for stocking help when it is time.
November 21, 2019 at 9:17 pm #6917Help.
I’ll be staying at Lazy L&L Friday night. Looking at maps, it looks like it would take nearly an hour to get to Rio if I can’t drive it directly (upstream) on River Road. Is there an alternative I’m missing other than heading downstream to Gruene then coming back on 306?
November 20, 2019 at 6:39 pm #6877I’ll be there. I will need a ride, or can be part of the bus crew.
