VERY detailed description and pictures are in the first post “What you need to Know about using the Lease Access Program Sites” as the email stated. Pictures and step by step instructions. The pictures are in the post and are showing up fine and as always with Jimbo there are quite a few.

This vital aspect of Catch & Release is why we were thrilled to have Sascha Clark Danylchuk, Science and Operations Manager for KeepEmWet Fishing, as our speaker at the Annual Meeting two years ago. The timing of having her here was perfect as it was a week before the first stocking and our members were very engaged during her presentation.

Alex – I was lucky to have a strong leaders and effective planning led by Dakus Geeslin, Kassi Scheffer-Geeslin and Dan Cone plus a record turnout of volunteers that made this happen. It was a great day and we received excellent support from Freedom on the Fly, The Eyes of the San Marcos, NBFF, TAMU Fly Fishing and TX State Fly Fishing plus former board member Brad Wilkins was at his usual spot at the grill.

I would call Geri Meyer who owns Driftless Angler. She’s attended Troutfest TX before and this is her area of expertise. https://www.driftlessangler.com/ (608) 637-8779

1- ALL GRTU Chapter Meetings for the past two years have been available via ZOOM and we will continue that going forward. We are a statewide group and this gives all of our almost 6,000 members an opportunity to attend.

2- The November Fall Meeting has to have an in person option also as it is elections and required by our By Laws. So, Zoom and in person both.

3- The Winter Meeting during TFTX will have both also as we have a lot of folks at the event plus our TU National team as speakers and it makes it convenient to do so.

We did not do posters this year as other than the Rainbow Cowgirl it takes 2-3 years to sell the minimum order on posters. Then we have to store them for a year and take a couple of years to recoup the cost.

    I spoke to GBRA yesterday.

1- A record low for Canyon lake was set in late Aug 23 at 892.65. In the ensuing 5 and a half months the lake has continued to drop and set new records regularly. We are currently at 887ish and obviously that is not good.

2– With water storage in Canyon Reservoir below 890 feet msl, GBRA initiated Stage 2 moderate water shortage conditions for wholesale raw water customers effective Monday, October 16, 2023. Stage 2 is a declaration which supersedes the GRTU GBRA Minimum Flow Agreement.

3- In short, the Minimum Flow Agreement is NOT in effect at this time.

4- During declared drought (like now) GBRA releases flows according to senior downstream water rights holder only.

For a review of the GBRA presentation on flows at our Chapter Meeting last year, click here https://youtu.be/fD9i1jm3Mfk?si=yg-DU830W64BLn62

Another good site that deals with flow including the FERQ requirements for inflow vs outflow may be found at https://wordcc.com/guide-to-release-levels/ This site also has the GRTU GBRA agreement on it as does our website.

Bottom line is we are living in a perilous time for our trout fishery and need this drought to break and El Nino to kick in. And of course, Jimbo to pound his magical tom toms!
