Guy from the patio hole.  Game warden also has the pic.  I do like the idea of obvious signs about the rules.  But I also think these people know they are breaking the law and just don’t care.  Everyone pay attention and call or text the game wardens.

    Thanks.

If we all stay vigilant and call the warden, maybe we can push them back to the bait water.  It REALLY irritates me to see people kill fish.

Thanks for the update and all the work you do to make our fishing better.

I saw a guy at Khan’s Saturday afternoon fishing with bait and he had three fish, including a brown, on a stringer.  I called the game warden, he took off towards Rio and the warden went to find him.  Not sure if he did or not.  I see people fishing with power bait often at Rio.  It isn’t illegal to fish with bait, only to keep fish caught on bait.  Not real effective when they swallow the hook.

No that is not what I am saying.  No one has the right to break any laws. But in TX, the laws are generally made in a way that protects land owners rights to do what benefits them vs what benefits general population.  There is VERY little public land in TX and what there is is closed down to most activities compared to other states.  If we can’t the landowners along the Guad to want to eliminate bait fishing and treble hooks, it would be a tough row to hoe with TPWD.  If we could get the businesses to see the value of going that route, we might have a chance.

    I am interested.

I agree but in order to make that work we need the business owners along the river to support it as well.  Texas being a Land owner rights state, taking away a landowners “right” to fish however they want will be difficult.  However as you see with deer hunting in TX, if there is money to be made, then TPWD will support it as it provides income to the property owners.  Maybe we can’t get all the river, but if we could get sections, that would be a start.  then show the value to the others and grow it from there.

I hooked a real pig yesterday.  Never got her to the net, but definitely a really nice fish.  In the same hole I caught my biggest from last year and saw a guide pull one that was easily 20″ from there.  I’d say they have put on some pounds since last winter.

More lead time next time and I am in.  I am still working for a living and need more time to plan.  If you can get Don Haber at Born and Raised (Abe’s Fly Shop), he is great.  He’s been on the San Juan since ’98.

Has anyone tried to Uber of Lyft from say Lazy L&l to Maricopa?  I’m not sure if Uber or Lyft are available along river road reliably enough to use as a way to get back to your boat or vehicle.

If you were a member last year, you can access the “annual” sites now.  If you were not a member last year, you cannot access the “annual” sites until Nov 1.  The lease membership runs from 11/1 to 10/31 each year.

There are some site that only allow access 11/1 to 3/31 of each year.  These are the “seasonal” sites.
