My experience from this summer when they started to drop flows is once the water got to above 67 the fishing shut down.  You could get one to react and hit a streamer, but it really died off of where it was when they were running more cold water.  I’m going to give them a bit more time and let the water get cooler, it will soon.

Most of them appear to be working now.  If you scroll down on the Flow page you can see the date and time they last updated with the temp at the time.  Temps still look good this morning.

This is a little guy I picked up this morning between Rio an white water.  Smallest I have ever caught in the Guad.  Looks like a rainbow to me.

Unfortunately there is a BIG striper in the Mt creek hole along with a couple of gar.  Any trout that gets in there is at high risk of being dinner for one of them.  The striper tried to eat one I had hooked back in October.

Lets hope the little guys stay hidden.

I would bet they keep it right where it is through 7/8 unless we get a lot of rain.

The water seems a bit dingy to me, the temps are good and cool, the trout are cooperating, and for me they seem to be on the bigger side.

I was above Rio Raft this week late in the evening.  Temp was 65.

Any idea what is up with the flows today?

I was out yesterday and the tubers were thick but friendly.  You can drink beer free all day if you place yourself well for the drift.

Yep.  I watched a kayaker whack a trout with his paddle and the fish barely moved.   Tubers were kicking them too and no real effect on the fish.

The rubber hatch has been later in the day from what I saw this weekend.  Especially on Sunday, and not overly heavy.

I caught this guy Sunday at Pott’s.  It looks like he was grabbed by a Osprey and escaped.  He had several black on his other side.  He seemed to be doing just fine.

The temp just below the Weir at #5 was 63 degrees at 3:00pm.  Temps do tick up during the day.  If I can get off during the week one evening I will go up above Rio and see what it looks like.  I just haven’t been able to slip away during the week lately and may not for a couple weeks.  I am curious how much heat gets added between the 306 bridge and #5.

I fished from #5 to just below Pott’s this morning.  Temps at 7am were 59 degrees and it was 61 just below the weir at #5 at 1:30pm.  Th3 trout do seem to like the temps!

Does anyone have an idea what the H2O temps are at RIO now?

Since the monitors are not operational, maybe we should start a thread where people can post temps and locations so we have at least an idea what is going on temp wise in the river.  Just a thought.

Thanks Jimbo.  I’ll keep an eye on it.  I won’t be back to the Guad until the water drops a bit.  The last couple months have been pretty epic for me.  I have a trip to SW CO in early August and MT in early September so plenty of fishing to do!

At what temperature do we stop fishing?

    Thanks,
