JC and Enrique, thank you for your well wishes!

    @fmccamant
, River Bluff is one of our LAP lease locations in the lower half of the river. You park at a house and then cross River Road to get to another gate and the river (only property I can think of across the street from the river). You can find the pictures and location information here – scroll down to the River Bluff site. Your map card also has the address.

I call the narrow trough there at River Bluff  the Chute. No idea if anyone else does. I think there may be another area on the river people also call the Chute but I am not sure. There are areas I am not familiar with because I have never floated it as well. This is farther downriver than the Devil’s Playground (second section not right at the Store) at Lazy L&L.

There are a lot of great spots in the lower river and they are consistently less crowded than upper river sections – try them all except River Road Camp, the last site, isn’t always stocked. I don’t know if it was stocked this year. Once you hit February or March, the crowds on the upper river start to thin out. March and April is my favorite time due to fewer people.

    Good luck!

Alex, thank you so much for your well wishes and I have enjoyed learning from you on this forum. I will be in the Baltimore area for training period with US Department of State 4-12 months within 30-45 mins of the Gunpowder (some say the best year-round trout fishing in the greater DC area) and maybe 1-1.5 from some great Pennsylvania streams. However, I am headed overseas to an unknown as of yet destination country where I may or may not be able to fly fish due to the climate/habitat or safety and security.

Hi, I had the same problem gave up on my guest passes purchase in order to make things simpler during the hellish signup process. I went just now to buy my guest passes and have always been able to add them later in the year, but I cannot add them to my cart (thanks for link btw doug57.spencer) – keep getting an error message “out of stock.”

    Help!

Big ugh…I hate the lack of public land in my home state.

The white bass are running pretty well on the Nolan River near Blum, TX as well as the Bosque near Waco. We had a great time catching them with Texas Women Fly Fishers this weekend. A few ladies went out with Pat Vanek (guide) on the Bosque in a boat and each of the four over 2 days caught over 50. I managed 10 in a morning wade fishing without a guide at the Nolan.

Thank you Alex. I haven’t gotten back to working on my floating the sighter thing yet this year since I was first researching it. Keep dragging my euro rod out and not using it. If I want to float the sighter with those tiny midges are just putting a single midge on or something else with it (what?)? Just thinking about what minimal weight it can handle.

Kevin and Jimbo thanks so much for the useful information. Been having a lot of fun on the Guad every week and amazed I haven’t been skunked yet. Seems to be fishing well this season so far.

You can order guest passes for $15/day/person any time and print them out right then. Same way you bought your membership.

We had some pretty good action on Sunday on the lower portion of the river with plenty of fish (found them by sight) and they were hitting aggressively both on eggs and on a spanker fly – a kind of CDC collar pheasant tail I got from Big Y flies online. My buddy Christine and I caught 6 between us just on the spanker fly alone between us (I shared one with her after I caught two on it in the same pod). We blew them out after we caught one or two and then we would have to wait a while till they settled down and we could get another one or two. Did this cycle a few times.

The fish would go bezerk charging toward the egg  as soon as it hit (water was so clear we could see sometimes what was going on) and then would go away and then another one would pick up the spanker. I had never seen the concept of egg as attractor fly so clearly demonstrated.

I thought they were biting very well (I broke off 3) but I presumed part of it was being the first day after stocking. This was the one of the better days I have had on the Guad especially not euronymphing (went conventional nymphing all day flows were so low and slow).

Good luck George – hope this helps!

Wow super cute! The future of fly fishing! We would love to have her in Texas Women Fly Fishers when she is ready! We already have a 10 year old super stud girl (and her dad) in our club who can outfish and out-tie us all! She gets invited to lots of fly fishing events around the country.

Amazing story and fish of a lifetime! What does the term “bull trout” mean? I have heard it but not sure what it refers to. Congratulations!

I just thought it was some kind of disease because I never saw it the previous two seasons and now my friends and I are all seeing it. Maybe lower clearer water seeing more fish???

Thank you for info on Kanz. So I have been there but didn’t know it was Kanz which is what I suspected.
